
Eight days - Barcelona and surroundings by car

Days 1 and 2: Barcelona
Arrival at Barcelona Josep Tarradellas airport. From there, you can take the transport that is most convenient (taxi, train, metro or bus) to the city centre. Spend the next two days exploring this cosmopolitan city. Don’t miss the Gothic Quarter, Gaudí's famous architecture (some of his most famous works are the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Casa Batlló and Casa Milá), La Rambla and the neighbourhood of El Born. You can also visit the Camp Nou stadium, where FC Barcelona, one of the best football teams in the world, plays. If you feel like shopping, head to El Corte Inglés or La Roca Village (an outlet with luxury brands), 40 kilometres from the city. If you’re travelling with kids, you can spend an afternoon at the city's Zoo, Tibidabo Park, Poble Espanyol or go to the Barcelona Aquarium. Day 3: Day trip to Montserrat and Tarragona
After picking up your hire care, head to the Montserrat mountain, which is known for its unique pink formations, breathtaking views and thousand-year-old Benedictine monastery. You can drive to the top of Montserrat or park at the stations further down the mountain to enjoy the experience of taking the cable car or rack railway to the top. Afterwards, you can leave Montserrat and head for the charming coastal town of Tarragona, a World Heritage Site. Stroll along the Rambla Nova, which is lined with shops and restaurants, visit the spectacular Roman Amphitheatre and the Roman Circus, as well as the Aqueduct of Les Ferreres. Day 4: Day trip to Girona or Costa Brava
Girona An hour and fifteen minutes by car from Barcelona. You can also get there by AVE high-speed train in about 40 minutes or by medium distance train, which takes an hour and 20 minutes. You can visit the Arab Baths of this beautiful city, the houses on the river Onyar that can be seen from the Eiffel Bridge (designed by Gustave Eiffel, the creator of the Tower of Paris), and the Cathedral. You can also climb the Wall and see the city from the heights. If you would like to go out for a drink, you can do so on the Rambla, a boulevard lined with restaurants, bars and small boutiques. Costa Brava The best way to visit is by car. You can walk along part of the coast from Blanes to Cadaqués and enjoy small fishing villages such as Tossa de Mar, Calella de Palafrugell, Tamariu or Palafrugell. Enjoy the beaches, roam the picturesque streets or just soak up the Mediterranean sun!

Day 5: Barcelona - Pyrenees (National Park of Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici)
After enjoying the sandy beaches of Barcelona, you can head for the majestic Pyrenees mountains, which run through the Spanish regions of Catalonia, Aragon and Navarre. The most famous spot in the Catalan Pyrenees is the National Park of Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici and you can stay in one of the villages surrounding the park. Barcelona - Vielha: 280 kilometres, a four hour and 15 minute drive. Barcelona - Baruerra/Boi/Espot: 260 kilometres, a three hour and 40 minute drive. Overnight stay in the Pyrenees.

Day 6: Pyrenees (National Park of Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici)
Head to the national park known for its spectacular scenery, beautiful lakes and wildlife. The best way to discover the Park's natural secrets is to go with a guide. These guided tours, which are suitable for everyone, will reveal to you a lot of interesting facts about the history, geology, flora and fauna of the park. Day 7: Pyrenees - La Seu d'Urgell - Barcelona
Leave the Pyrenees and head back to Barcelona. On the way, you can make a stop in the charming mountain village of La Seu d'Urgell. There you can visit the Cathedral, the Diocesan Museum of Urgell or the Trava viewpoint. Night in Barcelona.

Drop off the car and take your flight home from Barcelona’s Josep Tarradellas-El Prat airport.
