
Three cities in Spain: Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid in 10 days
This itinerary combines three Spanish cities: Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid. It also includes day trips to UNESCO World Heritage cities nearby such as Segovia and Toledo, as well as guided trips to Montserrat and the Costa Brava and a full day at the PortAventura Word theme park from Barcelona.

Day 1-2: Barcelona
Arrival at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport. From there, you can take your most convenient option (taxi, train, metro or bus) to get the city centre. Spend the next 2 days exploring this cosmopolitan city. Don't miss the Gothic Quarter, Gaudí's famous architecture (some of his most famous works include the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Casa Batlló and Casa Milá), La Rambla boulevard and El Born neighbourhood. You can also visit Camp Nou stadium, where FC Barcelona, one of the best football teams in the world, plays. If you are in the mood for some shopping, head to El Corte Inglés or La Roca Village (an outlet for luxury brands), 40 kilometres from the city. Day 3: Day trip to Montserrat/Girona/Costa Brava/PortAventura World
Choose your preferred option: Montserrat Head to the rugged heights of Montserrat mountain, known for its unique pink formations, breathtaking views and 1000-year-old Benedictine monastery. You can take a guided tour of Montserrat from Barcelona, or go on your own and take a local train from Plaza Espanya in Barcelona, to Manresa. There are two ways to get to the top of Montserrat from Plaza Espanya. The most picturesque and quickest way is to get off at Aeri de Montserrat from where you can take the cable car up to the top. Or, the other option is to get off further on at Monistrol de Montserrat station and take the rack railway to the top. Girona 1 hour and 15 minutes by car from Barcelona. You can also get there by the AVE high-speed train (38 minutes) and by conventional train (1 hour and 20 minutes). You can visit the Arab Baths of this beautiful city, admire the houses on the river Onyar from the Eiffel Bridge (designed by Gustave Eiffel, the creator of the tower in Paris), and the Cathedral. You can also walk along the city walls and see the city from new heights. If you want to get a drink, you can enjoy one on the Rambla, a boulevard lined with restaurants, bars and small boutiques. Costa Brava The best way to visit is by car. You can walk along part of the coast from Blanes to Cadaqués and enjoy small fishing villages such as Tossa de Mar, Calella de Palafrugell, Begur and Pals. Enjoy the beaches, explore the picturesque streets or simply soak up the Mediterranean sun! PortAventura World Take the train directly from Barcelona to PortAventura World (1 hour 10 minutes). Located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, this is one of Europe's biggest family holiday attractions with 5 and 4 star themed hotels. Day 4: Barcelona – Valencia
Take the high-speed train from Barcelona Sants to Valencia Joaquín Sorolla station (3 hours). It is up to you whether you prefer to stay in Barcelona a little longer or take an early train to make the most of the day in Valencia. Night in Valencia.

Day 5: Valencia
Valencia offers beautiful beaches and historical sights. Visit the Plaza de Toros de Valencia bullring and nearby sights such as the Cathedral, the Lonja de la Seda and the Mercat Central market. Discover every inch of the city and make sure you try a paella in one of its restaurants. Night in Valencia

Day 6: Continue visiting Valencia or trip to Peñíscola
You can choose to hire a car and drive to Peñíscola, or go by train or bus. Don't miss Peñíscola Castle, the Artillery Park and the La Casa de las Conchas (House of Shells). You can also stroll along its beaches and admire the town's lighthouse. If you prefer to see more of Valencia, you can visit the iconic City of Arts and Sciences, which houses a science museum, an opera house, a planetarium, the Oceanogràfic Valencia aquarium and many other activities to fill the whole day. In the evening, head to the Malvarrosa beach to end the day watching the sunset. Night in Valencia.

Day 7: Valencia - Madrid
Take the high-speed train from Valencia Joaquín Sorolla station to Madrid Chamartín or Madrid Puerta de Atocha stations (1 hour and 40 min). In the evening, head to Gran Vía to see a musical or to Plaza de Santa Ana for dinner and to enjoy the night-life. Night in Madrid.

Day 8: Madrid
Spend the day exploring key sites in Madrid, such as the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum, Gran Via, Retiro Park, Puerta del Sol, Santiago Bernabeu stadium and shopping on the Golden Mile. Night in Madrid.

Day 9: Trip to Segovia/Toledo/Cuenca
Segovia Take the high-speed train from Madrid-Chamartín station to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Segovia (27 minutes). Explore this medieval city. Don't forget to visit the Roman Aqueduct and the Alcázar. You can also visit the Royal Glass Factory of La Granja or the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso, which are on the outskirts of the city (between 15 and 20 minutes from the centre of Segovia). Toledo Take the high-speed train from Madrid-Puerta de Atocha station to another UNESCO World Heritage city, Toledo (33 minutes). They call it the city of three cultures. Explore it on foot and discover its Islamic, Christian and Jewish past. Toledo is also a great place to enjoy shopping for local crafts. Cuenca Take the high-speed train from Madrid-Puerta de Atocha station and visit another UNESCO World Heritage City, Cuenca (54 minutes). It is located on the cliffs of the Huécar river gorge and is famous for its Casa Colgadas (Hanging Houses). Don't forget to take a photo from San Pablo Bridge as a souvenir! Night in Madrid.

Day 10: Madrid
Take your flight home from Madrid Barajas Airport. Extension to Alicante from Valencia: You can also extend your stay by 2 nights in Alicante, located 2 hours from Valencia by car and 2 hours by direct train. Relax on the white sandy beaches of the Costa Blanca or explore its historic sights as you stroll through the whitewashed houses of the old town.
