MUST-SEE IN TARRAGONA
Tarragona is just 15 minutes by car from the park and 1 hour and 15 minutes from Barcelona. This UNESCO World Heritage city has one of the best-preserved Roman circuses in the Mediterranean. Its Roman remains form the "Archaeological Ensemble of Tarraco" (which is also a World Heritage Site). There are also charming shopping areas in its medieval streets. When you visit, be sure to see:
The Mediterranean balcony
Walk up the Rambla Nova, cross the promenade of Les Palmeres and stop here for a few minutes to enjoy a fabulous view over the sea and El Miracle beach. At dawn, in the afternoon, lit up at night... a wonderful spectacle at any time of the day.
Roman Amphitheatre
Spectacular Roman construction from the 2nd century, with a unique view over the Mediterranean Sea from the upper tiers.
Roman Circus
This enclosure, which can hold more than 25,000 people, is one of the best preserved in Europe and was used for chariot races.
Les Ferreres Aqueduct
Located on the outskirts of Tarragona, its overlapping arches reach a maximum height of 27 metres. We recommend you climb to the top and walk the more than 200 metres of the bridge.
The Cathedral
It was built in the 14th century and is a major landmark. Its exterior stands out for its Gothic style main door, different sculptures of apostles and a Virgin of the Mainel.
El Serrallo
In this charming fishermen's quarter with traditional restaurants you will be able to enjoy the best and freshest fish of the Tarragona coast.
Plaza de la Font
Perfect for a drink in one of the bars or restaurants at midday.
Tarraco Viva
If you visit Tarragona in May, don't miss Tarraco Viva, the city's Roman festival. It aims to disseminate ancient history in an engaging way and has become a benchmark both for the events it puts on and for the quality of the participants.

WHERE CAN I EAT?
Tarragona's typical dishes make for a Mediterranean feast. Romesco sauce and almond and ñora sauce are culinary hallmarks of the city.
You can't leave without trying xató, a salad with cod, endive and romesco sauce; and suquet de peix, a fish stew that conjures up seafaring tradition. To find the best dining options, you can visit some of the restaurants listed on the city's tourism website.
